Discover our services for the compliance of your candles

Candles imported and manufactured in the European Union must meet safety and chemical requirements, as well as satisfy the obligations imposed by Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008 (CLP) and by REACH in terms of labelling, drafting of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and possible PCN notification / affixing of the UFI code.

TRUSTiCERT an support candles manufacturers and importers in:

  • Authoring of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • UFI code creation and PCN notification
  • Creation of  regulatory and graphic compliant labeling
  • Notification (if applicable) at SCIP database (substances of concern in articles as such or in complex objects-products)
  • Creation of the environmental labeling for candles packaging

The SDS represents an information document with legal value that the supplier of a dangerous substance or mixture (manufacturer/importer/responsible company) must obligatorily send to the recipient when the latter is a professional.

To guarantee the confidentiality of your trade secrets, we create the SDS internally thanks to our experts and not through third-party suppliers. SDSs are created on the basis of the formula of each individual product variant and according to the standards and language of the country of destination of the product.

The UFI code is a mandatory element on the labels of dangerous mixtures. UFI is the acronym of Unique Formula Identifier; is an alphanumeric code made up of 16 characters which uniquely identifies a mixture at European level and links it to the specific information transmitted via the harmonized notification (PCN).

If in the formulation the candles contains more than 0.1% by weight of one or more substances listed in the SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) list, it is necessary to proceed with the notification to the SCIP database.
SVHC substances (substances of very high concern) can be present in candles formulation.
These are mainly carcinogenic, mutagenic or reproductive toxic substances, as well as substances with persistent and bioaccumulative characteristics.
It is mandatory to proceed with the notification at the SCIP database if these dangerous substances are present in candles in quantities higher than 0.1% by weight.
